Frequently Asked Questions

I manage my website myself and also add new plugins myself. Will your maintenance package also cover the update of the plugins after your initial check?2021-12-09T17:56:34+00:00

Maybe. If you are actively working on your Worpdress site, we ask that you let us know if you are adding new plugins. Installing new plugins can cause conflicts and break your website. If this happens, it is not covered and repairing your website will be charged at an hourly rate.

What happens, if a Plugin is discontinued and notifies me to mandatory implement an entirely new Version/System?2021-12-09T17:56:45+00:00

An example of this is the PayPal Checkout that was recently discontinued and replaced by a new plugin, PayPal Payments. Unfortunately, we cannot cover this, as it is not a plugin update. In this case, a new system replaces the old one. Installation of the new plugin will be charged at an hourly rate.

The agency who built my website has included the WordPress Theme. I don’t have access to it. Can I sign up for the Maintenance Package anyway?2021-12-09T17:57:00+00:00

Yes. We will audit your website and check which theme your website is using. We need to make sure that it is supported for supplying ongoing software updates. The theme support also needs to be accessible for us in case we need to contact them (the theme support might charge a fee for support, which is not included in the Maintenance Package)

What happens if my website is offline because your server is down or my website looks broken because of an update not performed.2021-12-09T17:57:04+00:00

No. Our servers are managed by one of the world’s best WordPress website hosts, and runs on the Google Cloud servers. However, even the biggest companies in the world have technical problems from time to time. Downtime due to technical problems with our providers are very rare, but are out of our control, and we do not accept any liability.

Does the maintenance Fee also cover the (yearly) cost of my premium plugins?2021-12-09T17:57:07+00:00

No. The maintenance Fee covers updating the plugins and making sure they work well within your website. However, the yearly cost of the actual plugin itself is not included and needs to be paid by the customer.

What happens if a plugin in my website stops working because it is not supported by the plugin author anymore?2021-12-09T17:57:13+00:00

If a plugin is not on our recommended list and is no longer supported which means that we don’t receive an update, we need to install a substitute plugin. This is not covered by the Maintenance Fee and will be charged at the current hourly rate.

I have an Agency, who looks after the technical and content part of my website. However, they do not offer maintenance. Will you take my hosting and maintenance over and what is included and what not?2021-12-09T17:57:22+00:00

Yes. We are happy to work with other website designers and content builders. If you move your website to Markegy, we will update all your plugins and make any modifications to your configuration to ensure that it is stable and safe. After that, we ask that you let us know if you add new plugins or change your configuration.

Can I buy the maintenance package and keep my hosting on my existing server?2021-12-09T17:57:31+00:00

Maybe. Some website hosts are great, and actively maintain their PHP version and provide everything you need for a safe and stable WordPress installation. If you are hosting with one of those hosts, then yes! However there are many hosts who are not maintaining safe environments for WordPress. Some are even trying to charge you for PHP version updates! We do not support these hosting platforms as they are creating security problems by not maintaining their software, which makes it impossible for us to provide the best service level.

Can my developer access the web server to build custom applications?2021-12-09T18:12:24+00:00

We provide hosting and maintenance services to Markegy customers so that we can ensure each website is optimised and secure. To this end, we generally try to avoid third party developers modifying websites on our server because of the potential problems that unknown custom code and applications can cause. If you have a specific need, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

What happens when my website has been hacked?2022-07-18T10:25:44+00:00

As part of our software maintenance package, we perform regular updates and security scans on your website. These measures are the basic requirement for a healthy and functional website. Despite the highest level of care, it is possible that your website is exposed to a targeted hacker attack. Markegy assumes no liability for any damage that may occur. In such a case, the restoration of the site (importing a backup) is included in the service, but is limited to a maximum of 8 hours of work.
